What is The Daily Mile?
The Daily Mile is simple and free and gets children out of the classroom for fifteen minutes every day to run or jog, at their own pace, with their classmates, making them fitter, healthier, and more able to concentrate in the classroom.

The Daily Mile is easy to implement and fun to do. All children enjoy it and participate happily. Read founder Elaine’s top ten essentials for successfully implementing The Daily Mile in any school setting.

The physical and mental health of our children continues to be of real concern. The problems have crept up on us and are now so serious that immediate action is needed.
The introduction of The Daily Mile for every child in thousands of schools and nurseries is now building a coherent national approach to the problem at grassroots level.
Let’s not hesitate. We should make The Daily Mile part of every childhood and watch as it improves our children’s health and wellbeing now and for the rest of their lives.

The Daily Mile is an excellent programme. It is simple and inclusive, and it can successfully engage children in physical activity, who would otherwise not undertake that physical activity... I certainly agree that we want more schools to adopt the active approach and adopt The Daily Mile.
Theresa May, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom -
The Daily Mile has already proved a great success for the schools that are taking part with a hugely positive impact on children’s health and wellbeing. ITV wants to use the power of TV and the reach of our programming to change attitudes and behaviours towards living more healthily. We are aiming to get the whole country engaged with this initiative and every UK primary school taking part.
Carolyn McCall, Chief Executive of ITV -
INEOS has been supporting The Daily Mile for the last three years. We know how important it is to encourage children to get fit and healthy and look after themselves, not just for today but for the years to come.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe, Founder and Chairman of INEOS -
As a parent it is also difficult to find the time for sport and physical activity – crucial to maintaining a healthy weight. That is why we want to encourage every primary school to adopt an active mile initiative such as the fantastic Daily Mile. Initiatives like this can improve the physical, social, and mental wellbeing of our children – regardless of age, ability or circumstance. Building this kind of activity into daily life and encouraging young people away from their screens will be instrumental in helping achieve our ambition.
Jeremy Hunt, Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs of the United Kingdom
